Street Fighter 6’s next big reveal appears to be happening during this special live stream at Tokyo Game Show next month

Capcom treated Street Fighter fans to two big reveals during Evo 2022’s finals this past weekend. Newcomer and Bushinryu student, Kimberly, as well as wicked legacy character Juri are joining Street Fighter 6 as playable characters.

No matter how good a reveal is, though, fans just can’t help but wonder when the next one is coming, and thankfully we now have an idea of when Street Fighter 6’s next big reveal might drop. Capcom will be holding a special stream for the upcoming title at Tokyo Game Show 2022 (TGS) next month, and it’s very likely that we’ll see another announcement there.

This year, TGS will take place both online and as an in-person event. It has been confirmed that Capcom will be a part of both the physical and digital events.

For TGS Online, Capcom is scheduled to run their “Capcom Online Program,” which is set to include the latest news from the company in a pre-recorded stream. This broadcast is gearing up to go live at 7 a.m. PT on Thursday, September 15, so be sure to mark your calendars if you’re looking to learn more about their library of products.

The following day, however, Capcom is holding the “Street Fighter 6 Special Program,” a live stream that is said to include “all the freshest SF6 updates.” You’ll be able to watch this one on Friday, September 16, at 8 a.m. PT.

Based on the description of the SF6 special program and past experience, it’s safe to say that the chances of another big reveal for the game taking place on the aforementioned date and time are high.

At the time of writing this, Capcom has announced seven total playable characters for Street Fighter 6. Ryu, Chun-Li, Guile, and Juri comprise its current cast of returning world warriors, while Luke, Jamie, and Kimberly act as the fresh faces of a new generation.

In addition to two online presentations, fans can expect to see playable demos of various titles on the show floor. Street Fighter 6 is among this line up, so more gameplay is inbound next month simply by way of event goers uploading footage to social media.

Earlier this week, we saw a comment from Street Fighter 6 director Takayuki Nakayama that talked a little more about Kimberly. In it, the developer mentioned that the music the new ninja listens to on her cassette player comes from “a certain person,” but we’ll have to wait to find out who it is.

The phrasing here certainly makes this person sound more important than just a simple liner note for Kimberly’s backstory, which likely means Nakayama is referring to another playable character. Fans were quick to guess that the mystery musician might in fact be Dee Jay, considering he is one of the only professional musicians in Street Fighter who is actually a recording artist.

Though we haven’t heard anything just yet, fans might also want to keep an eye on gamescom — the large video game showcase in Cologne, Germany — taking place on August 23. Capcom could also reveal something for Street Fighter 6 here, but we haven’t seen anything about Capcom’s plans for this event at this time.

Street Fighter 6 is due out sometime in 2023.
